Tim Felke
Tim comes from a family where his grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, and cousins were either teachers or deeply passionate about education. Although he graduated from Arizona State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, he always felt that he would transition to education at some point.
During his aerospace career, Tim developed computer models of complex systems to improve their performance and durability. While doing this work, he became convinced that computer models were an underutilized resource for learning.
With this conviction, Tim assembled a team of like-minded professionals and founded Active Learning Labs to provide interactive lessons. Many of these lessons incorporate collaborative competitions, enriching the learning experience even further.
He lives in central Maryland with his wife of 40+ years, who, coincidentally, is also an educator.
With over a decade of experience in software engineering, armed with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science, Upesh's journey has been defined by an unwavering passion for technology and a relentless pursuit of innovation. A true technophile at heart, Upesh's expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of technologies, with a keen focus on Full Stack Development, Microservices and Solution Architecture.
Collaborating with Mr. Tim Felke, Upesh's involvement in ActiveLearningLabs has been nothing short of transformative. He has taken the reins of development, architecture, and pivotal technical decisions for ActiveLearningLabs, guiding the endeavor towards new horizons of success.
With over 20 years of experience in marketing and public relations, Melissa plays a vital role in shaping the company’s growth and impact in the educational sector. Her expertise in strategic communication, brand development, and customer relationship management enables her to create tailored, results-driven strategies that strengthen customer connections and enhance their overall experience. Melissa is passionate about storytelling and crafting authentic communication strategies that resonate with customers. Her ability to identify and respond to the evolving needs of customers ensures that Active Learning Labs consistently delivers innovative, customer-centric solutions.
Ms. Meyer holds a BA in Information and Computer Science, worked for Lockheed Martin and IBM, then retired from IBM after 32 in the software development industry. Early in her career she had a range of responsibilities relating to the full software development cycle (e.g., requirements definition, code, unit test, integration, fault tolerant and acceptance testing and configuration management) mainly in SEI CMM Level 3 and 5 organizations. Ms. Meyer has held various management positions as Change Request Manager, Training Manager, Agile Transition Team Lead, Project scheduler, Incentive Fee Manager, and Project Manager for a large IT contract with the IRS. Ms. Meyer is PMI-ACP certified and a certified Resilient Leadership Coach. Ms. Meyer provides management and coaching services to the ALL Team.
Mark is a results-oriented professional with a diverse background in engineering, finance, and entrepreneurship. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Finance with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Currently working in the automotive industry, Mark navigates the complexities of both hardware and software integration. A passionate lifelong learner, he believes in continuous growth and development. His global perspective is informed by extensive world travel, including a unique personal mission to explore the local grocery stores of every country he visits, gaining insights into diverse cultures through their food. Beyond his professional pursuits, Mark has dedicated over a decade to coaching youth soccer, shaping the lives of young athletes.
Mr. Miley holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and has worked for Honeywell, Collins Aerospace, and Northrop Grumman in an Aerospace Systems Engineering role for 25+ years. Mr. Miley has had a range of responsibilities including Avionics design and Flight Testing, Development of Onboard Aircraft Diagnostics Systems, Validation & Verification (V&V) Engineering, Requirements Management & Decomposition, Process Improvement Champion, User experience (UX) design, and currently as Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) professional.
