Activity Description

In today's fast-paced world, it's more important than ever to teach our students about healthy eating habits. However, it's not always easy to engage students with nutrition concepts and get them excited about this topic. That's where this fun and interactive activity comes in!

With this activity, students choose their main course, side, and beverage for each meal of the day - breakfast, lunch, and dinner using image spinners. But there's a twist - they will also be tracking 10 nutrient values for each meal, to ensure that they stay within the daily limit for each nutrient. As the student selects any food item from the list, the nutritional values of the food will be displayed next to it.

The tracking element of the activity ensures that students are learning about the specific nutrients that their body needs, such as protein, carbohydrates, fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. By choosing foods that are rich in these nutrients, students will learn how to make informed choices about their diet and ensure that they're meeting their nutritional needs.

But the activity doesn't stop there - students also have the opportunity to adjust their portion sizes to achieve a healthy diet that meets their needs without unhealthy excess.

Students optimize by their meals choice -

  1. Calorie
  2. Carbohydrate
  3. Proteins
  4. Cholesterol
  5. Fat
  6. Vitamin A
  7. Vitamin C
  8. Calcium
  9. Iron
  10. Sodium.

At the end of the activity, students will receive a score based on how well they managed to achieve all of the targets without harmful excess. This scoring system teaches students to make healthy choices and track their nutrient intake accurately.
