Activity Description

Students will first understand what shares are and how the share market works using the story of John's doughnut business. The storyline helps them understand how shares represent ownership in a business.

Students will then do an interactive simulation that will unfold a series of 20 events that happened over time, each having the potential to influence the share prices of John's doughnut company. Students will understand the events that can positively and negatively impact the share prices of a company, and analyze the share price change of John's company.

After exploring these events, students will participate in a drag-and-drop activity to classify them as either events that increase or decrease share prices.

Learning Objective

In this interactive simulation activity, students will see how the share prices of John's Doughnut business grew over 20 years. They will see different events that positively or negatively impact the share prices. They will analyze the prices and answer some questions.
