Activity Description

This engaging worksheet activity is designed to immerse students in a budget-friendly baking experience while honing their mathematical and budgeting skills.

Storyline: "With the holiday spirit in full swing, you've noticed that buying Christmas cakes can be quite pricey, with each delectable treat costing a whopping $25. Determined to spread joy without breaking the bank, you decide to embark on a baking adventure. You've taken it upon yourself to bake a budget-friendly yet delicious Christmas cake. "

Student will use the given recipe to do unit conversions from kitchen units such as cups and teaspoons to standard units such as pounds and gallons for each ingredient. They will then use the rate card provided to find the cost of each ingredient for making one cake. Students will then identify how much money they saved because they made the cake at home instead of buying the costly cake from the store.
